Happy Mother's Day

 Mothering Sunday

A little vintage framed print with precious words I sent to my Mummy along with a vase of flowers and a card full of kisses!

Mother, O' Mother, come shake out your cloth,
Empty the dustpan, poison the moth.
Hang out the washing, make up the bed,
Sew on a button and butter the bread.

Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?
She's up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.

Oh, I've grown as shiftless as Little Boy Blue,
Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo.
Dishes are waiting and bills are past due,
Pat-a-cake, darling, and peek - peekaboo.

The shopping's not done and there's nothing for stew,
And out in the yard there's a hullabaloo.
But I'm playing Kanga and this is my Roo.
Look! Aren't his eyes the most wonderful hue?
Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo.

The cleaning and scrubbing can wait till tomorrow,
But children grow up, as I've learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down cobwebs; Dust go to sleep!
I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep.

Happy March

I wanted to pop in and wish you all a  very Happy March, I picked this bunch of blooms for you as I am  grateful to all who stop by and leave me lovely comments, you are kind and I appreciate you doing so.

I picked primula, paper whites and snow drops and popped them in a tiny ' A Bit Of Old England' vase,i wish you could smell as the paper whites are so perfumed.

This is a peek into an old barbola corner cupboard we have in the hallway that I have filled with all my cottage treasures and trinkets.

The sun is shining here and the sky is mostly blue and the daffodils are in bud along the lanes, ahhh i do love Spring time don't you?
Wishing you a wonderful first day of March whatever you may be up to.

Will you join me next time for more tales and goings on from Shingle Cottage?
